--SS Ryan Theriot started, two days after fouling a ball off the top of his left foot, forcing him out of Wednesday's game. Theriot wore a guard on the foot, and he fouled a pitch off the guard in the first inning. He wound up going 2-for-5. Theriot has 44 multi-hit games, putting him second in the NL to the Mets' Jose Reyes.
--RF Kosuke Fukudome returned to the No. 5 spot in the batting order after hitting seventh for three straight games. He was 0-for-4, leaving four runners on base. --RHP Carlos Marmol worked two-thirds of an inning, giving up no hits and no runs while walking one and striking out one. Marmol has gone 10 games since the break (10 2-3 innings) without giving up a run.
--CF Jim Edmonds had his third multi-homer game of the season. Fourteen of Edmonds' last 19 hits have gone for extra bases (seven doubles and seven homers).
--LHP Ted Lilly recorded his 15th quality start of the season and his fifth in a row. He didn't get a decision, but he lowered his ERA from 4.35 to 4.26.
BY THE NUMBERS: 1.000 -- RHP Carlos Zambrano has a perfect 6-0 record this year at Wrigley Field. Since 1956, the best winning percentage by a Cubs pitcher at home is .923, set by Jon Lieber, who went 12-1 at home in 2001.
