--RHP Randy Wells, who was supposed to start Friday, will go Saturday, with RHP Rich Harden going Sunday. Harden was scheduled to start Sunday against Houston. LHP Sean Marshall, originally set to start Saturday, will work out of the bullpen over the weekend and will start Thursday's series finale at St. Louis.
--RF Milton Bradley will miss Saturday's game as he sits out his one-game suspension for a confrontation with umpire Larry Vanover last month. The Cubs will be a man short for Saturday, but manager Lou Piniella said the Cubs are better able to cope. "At least we're healthy, where we have a bench to use," Piniella said. "The biggest problem that we had here for a long time was that we couldn't use people off our bench." --INF Bobby Scales was in Friday's lineup at second base before the game got rained out. That was a reward for Scales hitting a pair of two-run doubles Thursday. Piniella said players who perform put themselves in the lineup. "Yeah, he's swinging the bat," Piniella said. "He's brought some energy to the team. So we'll give him a chance to play. As long as he stays hot, we'll keep him in there."
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Carlos Zambrano (strained left hamstring) went on the 15-day disabled list May 4. He will make a rehab start for Class A Daytona on May 17, and he could return to the Cubs on May 22.
RHP Chad Fox (right elbow inflammation) went on the 15-day disabled list May 10. He might miss the remainder of the season.
3B Aramis Ramirez (dislocated right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list May 9. He will miss approximately two months.
