Ryan Braun went 2 for 2 with a double, a home run and two runs batted in. He also walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
TURNING POINT
The Cubs, trailing by a run, left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom half, the Brewers hit back-to-back home runs - Craig Counsell and Braun - and scored six runs total in the inning to break the game open.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
* Several of the lights inside Miller Park shut off during the top of the eighth inning as the Cubs were rallying, and both teams cleared the field. It took 20 minutes before the lights were back to full strength and play resumed.
* Corey Hart was robbed of a hit in the third inning when Cubs second baseman Mike Fontenot made a backhand play up the middle and made a jump throw to first base. Micah Hoffpauir, still getting to the bag when the throw was made, scooped it out of the dirt to barely get Hart.
* The Cubs, plagued by injuries, did not release a lineup until about 90 minutes before the game because they were waiting on Derrek Lee's status. Turned out he wasn't in the lineup and won't be Sunday because of neck spasms. Ryan Freel, who was in the starting lineup, was scratched 15 minutes before the game with a tight hamstring.
CLUBHOUSE CONFIDENTIAL
Part of Prince Fielder's regular routine before batting practice is to imitate the stances of major-leaguers, past and present. As a guy who's seen his share of big-league ball since he was a child, Fielder is accurate in his portrayals and he has turned it into sort of a trivia game with Mike Cameron, who studies the stance before blurting out a name. Fielder rarely copies his teammates, but he changed it up Saturday and did a dead-on J.J. Hardy, hands out over the plate and an exact follow-through. Everyone watching, including Hardy, cracked up. Fielder followed that with a perfect Jason Kendall impersonation, chin down and fingers moving. And on his swing he even peered into the seats down the right-field line, suggesting Kendall always fouls off pitches the other way. That too drew plenty of laughter.
STATITUDES
* Counsell's home run was his first since June 17 of last season.
* Rickie Weeks was second in home runs (6) and RBI (19) among National League second baseman entering play Saturday. Philadelphia's Chase Utley led in both categories (9, 22).
