Ill. official: No Wrigley deal without numbers
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - An Illinois official who was negotiating a deal to help renovate Wrigley Field says the talks stalled even before the former governor's arrest on corruption charges.

William Brandt, chairman of the Illinois Finance Authority, said Tuesday that a $300 million proposal by Wrigley Field's owner, Tribune Co., was never taken seriously because the authority never saw revenue projections.

Tribune Co. is trying to sell the stadium and the Chicago Cubs.

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich has been indicted on federal charges alleging the tried to pressure the Tribune to fire editorial writers in exchange for state assistance.

He says he's innocent. No one at the finance authority or Tribune is charged with wrongdoing.
