Quinn sticks to his loyalties

Quinn sticks to his loyalties
Apr. 24, 2009 (Herald & Review delivered by Newstex ) --

Just in case anybody was worried about Gov. Pat Quinn's Baseball allegiances, he hasn't switched teams since becoming governor.

After traveling the state promoting various programs today, including a stop in Forsyth to voice his support for an Ameren energy saving initiative, Quinn said he plans to attend the Cubs -Cardinals game tonight in St. Louis. It made me wonder if he was starting to lean toward becoming more of a Cubs fan.

I remember meeting Quinn a few years back when he was lieutenant governor and he said he was on his way to a Cubs -White Sox game with tickets behind home plate. I was a bit disappointed he said he'd be cheering for the South Siders, although I admit being a little jealous of being able to go to such intense rivalry games regardless of who somebody might be cheering for, especially with such good seats.

At any rate, I wanted to make sure he still was a White Sox fan, so I asked him about it while he was in Forsyth. And his answer was still yes. Maybe the Cubs can do something to win him over, but most of the time those allegiances don't change easily. Hopefully he will at least be able to enjoy a good game tonight.
